Panther is not an officially supported platform for Director MX and as will all software products you must adopt a "use at your own risk" policy any time you upgrade an OS after a product has shipped.
when making a huge step like from OS9 to OSX, which requires a reengeneering of the whole app, I do understand that.
but if I now have to stick with older OSes just because of one or two applications I bought at that time, then it is clearly unacceptable. DiMX is NOT written for an long term deprecated OS, but rather for the last version of OSX, jaguar. If all softwware manufacturers would tell us so, we couldn't upgrade to any new OS as soon as we purchased one application. this is not the way macOS is supposed to work. we are used to use our applications for a long time regardless of the OS.
it is a common practice to nearly each software I use, that if they find any bugs or incompatibilities, regardless who is to blame, that there will be an update available asap.
that's the way we do it with our applications as well (as soon as there is a fix possible at all, since we depend on director on)
it is dissappointing.
if macromedia wants to tell us, that they only support the OS version, which was around at release time, I don't think, that. at least on the mac side, we will support that behavior. (or is it the intention after all to get rid of mac users to drop the mac platform ? ;-)
but anyway, the fact that you speak about the next release is a reason for a big hooray anyway, since DiMX is a really very poorly piece of software, to say it in the most friendly words.
it may have topped D7 in its lameness as by now.
unfortunately we mac users have no choice, when we do not want to stick to a deprecated OS.
in D7 times we could at least choose to stick with D6.
