Thanks Kurt, but I'm in a much bigger mess now. See my latest post. All references to the shared cast has disappeared from nine movies in three back-ups of the same material. So far I have been able to recover one of those twenty-seven links. VERY ODD!!

Are you making sure that the shared cast is fully loaded? Check out "preloadNetThing." You'll want to add some frames to the front of your first movie, or create a loader movie that launches the first movie when the load is done. The basic approach is this - fire off a "downLoadnetThing" call for your shared cast, then keep checking the status of that op until it's complete. Then you can launch your first movie, and the shared cast's members will be available to it.
