Given your participation on this list, I'm assuming you are not just looking
for a personal mail client.

Given the name of this list I'm assuming you want to do so with Lingo.

Yes, it can be done.  While there are several xtras available allowing you
to easily send mail, I'm not aware of any OTTOMH that will easily receive
it.

However, you can use the Multi User Server xtra to connect directly to a
POP3 server and retrieve mail.  This will require a knowledge of the POP3
prootocol, as you will need to converse with the server.

You'll also need to decode any mail that arrives, attachments are likely to
be Base64 encoded, there are xtras for this or it is do-able with Lingo.

Depending on why you need to do this, there are also other options that
might be better or your requirements.

I have done most of what I've described above, but not quite put it all
together.  You can contact me off the list if you want to discuss the
specifics because a lot of it is not really Lingo.
