Check the splash screen too, the gear and arrow are there as well. AFAIK
they have been part of the splash screen since at least D6 and we felt the
icon needed an update for D8.5.1 so we switched to what you're seeing now.
Why were the gear and arrow chosen for the splash screen oh so many years
ago? I just don't know, sorry. Maybe others have that type of historical
knowledge to share?
