Aren't there some pioneer dvd players that can be controlled with rs-232 serial connections? Perhaps that would be a way to go...

The issue, I would imagine, with multiple dvd players in one computer is the decoding hardware. Most vid vards support hardware video decoding, but probably for only one video stream. Perhaps if you could software decode each stream and have a really fast processor?

With the separate external players you wouldn't have to really worry about it - even the computer doing the controlling wouldn't have to do a whole lot if all it was doing was orchistrating the video playback, albeit such a solution would not necessarily be easily portable.

I believe there are some piracy safeguards that don't allow more than one app to have control of a DVD player, and I'm pretty sure you can't have two instances of the player open (though I don't have two DVD drives, so I can't test the theory). I could be wrong.

is it possible to control 2 or more dvd players via lingo?

i would like to know if some internal dvd players have a video output too.
