Hello,

I am a little confused about the SMUS "whiteboard" behaviour imbeded in
Director 8.

Is it the only way to share an image between multiple users. (gif and
jpeg only, true ?)

Is it possible to share an image without passing by this behaviour ?

Does it have to be only a server-side shockwave ?

I want to do some processing on the shared image visible by all the
users connected (as a matter o fact each user can zoom, cut and paste
graphic objects from
a library, in real time, with immediate repercussion to all others
users connected)

Is this possible on an intranet.

Which xtras are needed (if any) to do that ?

More focused on collaborative working is there somewhere a comparison
table which lists the differences between NetMeeting and SMUS whiteboard
 ?

It seems that multi-user xtra can't compete with NetMeeting as it is too
slow to have a near real-time impression.

Please, if you have something in favor of Director and the Shockwave
multi-user server in this comparison, let me know as i am the only
proponent for this solution in my company (an industrial one : 2500
working stations)

Another important point is the security issue of the data transmitted.
What is the encryption scheme (on how many bits is the key ?)

Eventually, is it possible to access graphics objects on an oracle or
sql server database through ODBC with the glu of ASP ?

I want to retrieve Blob objects from fields in a Sql
server table . Is it possible to do dynamic marshalling
on the fly ?

       Thanks

                   Tony
