I'm not sure about the different conditions it works under, but in D8 you can test & 
set the currentTime of a sound sprite.

So if you store the currentTime in a variable when you pause the sound and then set 
the currentTime when you restart it, this should work.

I have used this successfully in D8, but also found some inconsistencies.  (Possibly 
it worked for .AIF, but not .SWA, I probably didn't try .WAV).
