We are pleased to announce the release of the Amplitude Xtra v1.0 for Director 7 and 8. The Amplitude Xtra enables Director movies to receive amplitude information for sound cast members in real-time as a sound is played. This information is sent to Director as a continuous stream of values that can then be used to animate sprites in time with music, draw sound waveforms using Director sprites in real-time at variable resolutions, achieve basic lip-sync for character animations and a range of other possibilities relating to the synchronization of events to sound. The Amplitude Xtra is reasonably priced at $US49 for a single-user license. This includes the Windows and Macintosh xtras, the Amplitude Generator utility and complete documentation. Once registered the Amplitude xtra can be used in shipping products, the unregistered xtra is fully functional within Director.
