Funny, I just fixed this exact problem, with Gretchen McDowell's help :-)

There are four Xtras you need to run successfully:
Mix Services
Sound Import Export
MacroMix (pc)
DirectSound (pc)

And, of course, the Audio Xtra.

These should all be in your Xtras folder, or included in the projector. For 
a Shockwave version, you need to click the "Download When Needed" button in 
Modify -> Movies -> Xtras. MacroMix is automatically included in Shock 
movies, so the button will be grayed out for that one.

One other step for Shock--you need to add the following lines to your 
"Xtrainfo.txt" file:

; Audio Xtra from UpdateStage
[#namePPC:"Audio Xtra", #nameW32:"resaudio.x32", #package:"http://www.yourURL"]

Actually, the first line is just a comment, but it helps keep things straight.
