Does anyone know how to make a graphic toggle to another image by having a mouseUp script happen on another graphic?

I am using Director 7. Developing on a Mac. But will be used on a Windows 95/98/NT system. Here is the situation. I have one graphic (image1 off state and image 1a on state) on the stage that has the "Multi-State Button" which is shipped with Director 7, applied to it. When I mouseDown on image1 it swaps itself with image1a, goes to the frame, and stops the sound playing. When I mouseDown on image1a (again) it swaps itself with image1, goes to the frame +1, and sets the sound to 256.

What I was wondering, is how to make another image (image2) when mouseDown occurs on it (image2), toggles image1 to image 1a or image 1a to image1. Oh yea, I don't want it to stop or continue the sound, or go to the frame or continue when image2 is mouseDowned. Does anyone know how to make this happen? Thank you.
