>Just wanted to add that you'll need the mac version of Director
And, since you said you were new to Director, a couple other hints:
You might want to make a "stub" projector that does little but put up a
splash screen and launches you main app. The main app can be a protected
movie: it doesn't have to be an executable. You only need one version of
this protected movie--it will run on both platforms. If you have a lot of
assets--graphics and audio, especially--this can be a big space saver.
Plus, you can make the protected movie invisible/hidden for a little
quick-and-cheap piracy protection.
To make a protected movie, first back everything up into a separate folder.
This is extremely important, because once you protect the movie, you will
never be able to open it again, so you *must* save a copy of your source files.
Now go to Xtras -> Update Movies, click on "Protect" and probably "Delete."
You have the option of making a backup copy there, but I advise you to do
it manually. If you do choose to "back up into Folder," I would back up
into yet another folder, separate from your manual backup. That will
protect you from damaging your source due to power glitches, crashes
(though Windows never crashes ;-), and other goblins.
Protecting the movie keeps others from seeing your code or assets. With the
stub projector to run it (use "go to movie"), you're all set.
By the way, when you use Toast to make a hybrid CD, your shared data will
live on the HFS partition, along with the Mac executable. The PC executable
will live on the ISO 9660 partition.
Happy hunting!
Cordially,
Kerry Thompson
