Please note that I don't read the lists regularly, so people should cc me directly with any questions or problems that pertain to my books. More detailed info follows. So, my wish to >get your new edition book soon. Please respond any information about it. Thank you for your interest in updated versions. The short answer is: I'd love to revise the books, but I have a number of other projects that have taken priority over it for now. I hope to revise them as soon as I am able. Sadly, many publishers simply put a new cover on their books and claim that it is updated for the latest version (while the contents haven't changed at all). O'Reilly prefers to republish books only when there have been significant changes warranting a true revision. Details follow: The latest (and only) version of LiaN covers up through D6.5 but much of the material transcends any specific version of Director. No formal announcement about an updated revision has been made. It could easily be many, many months before any revision is available so the first edition of LiaN is still your best bet until further notice. Feel free to drop me a line in another few months at which point a release date may be clearer. I've written some extensive articles about the D7/D8 dot syntax on my site at: http://www.zeusprod.com/nutshell/dotsyntax.html And most of the D7.0.2 Lingo is covered in DiaN as described at http://www.zeusprod.com/nutshell/d7.html There haven't been a ton of changes between D7.0.2 and D8 as far as Lingo is concerned, but I will be including information about those changes in the revised version of LiaN when I have time. The major changes off the top of my head include: New Imaging Lingo New Sound control Lingo Linked Lingo scripts Timer objects A revised version of LiaN would contain details on the changes that pertain to the material covered in that book. The material on the sound commands and imaging Lingo, which are more the purview of DiaN will most likely end up as tech notes on my site until DiaN is revised. There are no immediate plans to revise DiaN because it is current for D7.0.2, and again, there were not many changes between D7.0.2 and D8. Certainly 99% of both books remains completely relevant for the latest version of the software. That said, we are certainly expecting to revise both books at some point, although not in the immediate future. For those who have upgraded already, the best source of current information is the daily discussion groups, such as this one, cited at http://www.zeusprod.com/nutshell/links.html Again, I thank you for your inquiry and look forward to your feedback and suggestions for the next revision.
