First, get your boss a lifetime subscription to Dilbert, and ask him if he 
majored in sociology.

I would put up a splash screen that says "Loading..." as soon as the button 
is clicked. You could make a little flash movie or film loop to play during 
loading to make it a little more interesting.

There's no way of getting around the load time. You can cover it up, but if 
your boss wants to work on the Web, he has to accept reality.
