It is in Director 8 -- just check either file---preferences---editors---
script and set whatever external app you want to edit prefs. Or select
the script in the cast and click 'script' in the sprite inspector and
'link script as'...
course I've found that once you link the script as an external script
you're stuck like that --- I couldn't find a way to 'unlink' it and make
it internal again other than copying the contents to a new script...
