Hi Kerry. Some of this can be done with Aftershock. It can do all your
Javascript for shockwave detection, opening the installer page if you don't
have it. It comes with Dir 7, although I'm not sure if it comes with D8.
Depending on your JavaScript ability you can modify the code produced by
Aftershock to do all of the things that you want.
You might also want to check out www.scriptsearch.com, it is a great place
for digging up Javascript code or just seeing how other people have
accomplished different things. One problem that I have run into is minor
differences in the implementation of JavaScript between browsers so lots of
testing on different browsers is pretty important. (Not that you didn't know
that.)
Good Luck,
Ryan
