Hi all,

I just finished a project with lots of video, which started in AVI format.
The client had some long clips (over 5 minutes) and these would stutter
or have garbled sound shortly after the halfway point. With these clips I
was also getting other errors that would indicate a lack of RAM
(ghost-chunks of the progress bar staying behind, etc), but the freebytes
were plenty. At first I thought a restart of the computer would solve the
problem, but it didn't. Then, when I imported these clips as quicktime
movies (using the 'as quicktime' option when I imported), however, the
problem disappeared. I tried preloading the member of the clips thru
lingo, setting the preload to enabled, and everything else I found in the
"Using Director 7 book" and the Macromedia support site. Does anyone have
any ideas why this would happen? Is there a limit to the duration of an
AVI clip?

Thanks,
Mike
