Probably not in the short term. An app that runs on OS >=8.6 can be easily
ported to OS X using Carbon (a large subset of the APIs from the traditional
Mac programming interface). In fact, Shockwave is already Carbonized. There
is no Carbon support on Linux or other Unices. Similarly for the other
technologies in OS X (like Cocoa or Quartz). So for the foreseeable future
it isn't going to help.
