Yes, there is. I mentioned it in my original answer, but I wasn't very
specific.
There's a program you can buy called "File Buddy." I think it's shareware,
but I'm not sure--it's not expensive, anyway. Wonderful little program to
have--you can do all sorts of wonderful things with files, including hiding
them.
I'm not aware of a way to do that directly with the Mac OS.
