The shower - or bathtub - is a major place of inspiration. Is there
anything like a waterproof palm or something?

The message window (for projectors and shockWave) and some other handy
configs as more informative error messages can be achieved by an ini.
In the director program folder you'll find a file director.ini. Name a copy
of this file like the name of your projector, copy it next to the projector
and edit the appropriate lines of that file.

ie: the following line is out commented by derfault, removing the semicolon
does the trick:

MessageWindow=1
; This property only functions in Projectors and Shockwave.
; 1: Open a message window while the movie is playing. Macintosh Shockwave
; does not open a message window, however it does write output meant for
; the message window into "1logfile.txt" in the browser's application
;    folder.
; 0: No message window.
