I would like to see a "Locale" property in the environment. We already have the uiLanguage and osLanguage properties--that's a big help for people like me who do a lot of localization. Localization is a bigger issue than language, though--there is also the locale. The Spanish spoken in Mexico is different from the Spanish spoken in Argentina or Spain. Same for French--Canada, France, Belgium, Switzerland. There are cultural differences beyond language as well--decimal separators, time display, currency, volume and distance measurements, and the like. It's easy enough to get the locale from Windows--it's a simple call in C/C++. I've done less on the Mac, so I'm not sure how easy it is, but I suspect it's not difficult. I'm sending this to the Director wish list, but I'm curious--are there others out there on Lingo-L who would use this feature?
