My unofficial rankings:

>"Using Macromedia Director 8: Special Edition"
>by Gary Rosenzweig

The best overall.

>"Director 8 and Lingo Authorized"
>by Phil Gross

Haven't read--can't rate it.

>"Advanced Lingo for Games"
>by Gary Rosenzweig

Great Lingo book, great game code. Not a general-purpose book,
though--doesn't cover non-Lingo features of Director. Also not a lot on the
new features of Lingo like timeout objects, imaging Lingo, or OOP.

>"Lingo in a Nutshell"
>by Bruce Epstein

An oldie but goldie. Doesn't cover D8--I think it stops with D7. If Bruce
updated it, though, it would be near the top of my list.

My 2p worth.

Cordially,
