Years ago, I was part of a team who authored a successful project.
Times have changed since that finished ... I used many xobjects,
nubus video cards, and D3.2. I am looking to upgrade this project.
The project was designed for a live, staged, business meeting (large
screen, hundreds of attendees, speaker at podium type of thing).
Elements included a director-controlled laser disk player. Director
would tell the player to start and the video would feed into
the Mac full screen.
Director would then (at appropriate times) overlay bitmaps on the *live*
video. The completed video plus overlaid bmps would then connect to
a projector system and our *composite* image appeared on screen.
The board we used was a Truvision board. The board did not do any
rendering, the video simply passed thru with no cpu overhead.
Laser disks are out, so I will replace with DVD player. Also would
not want to do any rendering or steaming of video.
TIA if you have any idea of what xtras or video boards that I can
look into (either platform).
