Okay. Now how about setting it to default to a given directory? There is a
way if you supply a complete path to a default filename, but that's just
ugly. How about multi selection? Dialog positioning? Buddy API offers a
multitude of possible configurations for the file save/open dialog.

In keeping with the rest of this thread, how about using a Folder Selection
dialog box? With a default directory? With a caption AND a title bar
string? Dialog position?

FileXtra3 can do some of the above (and it IS a great price!), but for some
reason the folder selection dialog does not allow a default directory or a
custom title string in Windows (the title string doesn't work on my WinME
or Win2K systems).

AND, we've only talked about 2 functions from Buddy API which still puts it
in the Free price range while providing much more control than either
fileIO or fileXtra3 (for just these 2 functions). Yes, some of Buddy API's
functions are still being ported to the Mac. Also, I believe DirectOS
already has all its functions available for both platforms, but don't
forget that the originator of this thread implied that he already has Buddy
API.

If one doesn't require all the functions in BudAPI or the options available
in the 2 listed above, then no, Buddy API may not be the right tool. I'm
not nuts over Buddy API, but in my opinion, it's still the tool to beat for
all its functions.

P.S. to Sean: Buddy API can copy files, too. ;-)

P.P.S. I'm not associated in any way with Magic Modules - other than being
a happy customer.
