Hi Rich,
Methinks you'll need to create the images for each combination of the
characters properties. So if your character can have red or black hair and
green or blue tshirts, you'll need 4 images. Then just swap the members as
you need them.
It might be possible to have just the individual components and then
placing them in the score as needed, but making them move together might be
a trifle difficult. I don't know, I've never tried this.
And as for the isometric view thing goes, there was a nice article on DOUG
a while back that spoke about isometric games. Pretty neat article.
And if you haven't seen 'em, have a look at mobiledisco.com and
hotelhabbo.com, they're both multiuser chat rooms that use the same concept
that you have in mind.
