Macromedia have not made any announcements, and they will only say that
they are "talking with the console manufacturers" or "looking into the
possibilities." That doesn't tell us much, of course, because they're
always talking to other manufacturers and looking for business
opportunities. Sometimes they bear fruit--e.g., their announcement last
year that they were partnering with Intel to give Shockwave 3-D capabilities.

I don't have any inside knowledge--in fact, haven't even heard any decent
rumors. But my guess is, don't hold your breath. Playstation publishing
restrictions are too strict. Sega is dead. Nintendo isn't a very good
candidate because of their cartridge-based technology. Microsoft is too
much of an unknown quantity, and Macromedia might be reluctant to bet too
much, especially considering how hard a bargain Microsoft drives with their
partners.

Cordially,
Kerry Thompson
