Actually, this is the first I've heard about the PUZ format--thanks. Our
company has pretty much standardized on XML for all our data, but I'll
check it out.
Karina, Jakob, Christopher, and others make a pretty strong case for making
this into an object. It's one of those projects that I inherited a year
ago, and have been in maintenance mode on it ever since. Haven't gotten
around to making it object-oriented yet--I keep thinking "this is the last
time I'll have to change it."
Thanks, Karina, for the parent script. Yes, I write OOP for anything I do
from scratch. I often don't have time to convert an inherited program to
OOP, though, especially for minor changes. I guess there's nothing wrong
with adding objects to a basically procedural program, though.
Programming at a Web company is different from anything I've done before.
For 20 years I've worked on projects with a time line of 3 months to a
couple of years. Now, everything is 3-5 day jobs--the longest I've spent on
any program in the past year is 2 weeks.
At least I have a job :-)
Cordially,
Kerry Thompson
