Just goes to show where my emphasis lies - I can code Lingo till the cows
come home, but my Director knowledge is a little shaky :-(
As far as I know all raster formats will get converted to bitmaps when
imported into Director. Different formats contain different data, however,
so you need to weigh up what you want.
If you want transparent areas in your images without having to mess around
with masks and stuff in Director, you can't go far wrong with PNG format.
But as they are 32-bit all the time they can take up a lot of memory.
Haven't had much luck with Transparent GIFs but give 'em a go.
If you don't want transparent bits, PICTs are good too, as are GIFs. I have
a phobia of JPEGs for some reason...
One thing to note, however, is that when you create your final movie you
have the option of compressing the media involved. It uses JPEG compression
so flat blocks of colour can get a little dirty, but have a play.
As an aside, this sort of info would be of great help to me as well, so I
open the floor to the rest of the list...
