File IO has a built in function for this.  Here's how to use it.

   pDelim = the last char of the moviePath
   OSPath = getOSDirectory()
   where = offset(pDelim, OSPath)
   HDName = char 1 to where of OSPath

And, no, the hard disk is not always C on PC's.
