Whether you're able to get a copy of the US English manual of Macromedia Fireworks 3,
"Using Fireworks", (imho paper manuals are always a wonderfull thing) you may want to
read the section "Exporting an animation" in Chapter 17, page 214; also, you find there
much more about animations.

Three are the ways you can export your Firework animation into Director: as an
animated GIF, as a Flash SWF file and as multiple files.
About the third way, here's how (from the manual):

1. Choose File > Export Special > Layer/Frames to Files
2. In the Export dialog box, choose Frames in the Files From pop-up
3. Type a base name for the file and specific the destination
(I would advise you to use Basename-Numeric, that's the simplest one to read
    once files have been created)

If you save your work as a PNG32 graphic you will be able to import it the same
way you would with any .bmp file, but you will get one image only in the cast,
just of #bitmap type. The whole animation PNG content gets lost. (I think you
get the image that was last displayed in the FW canvas at the export time).

By the way the level of integration between FW and Director is excellent.
And so, if you select and copy the image that is, say, in frame 1 of your
FW animation and paste it into a Director cast slot, and then you repeat
this for the image in frame 2, and so on, you may quickly get a series of
images to be used for a Director animation: images coming from FW into
Director through the clipboard never get darkened or no way altered.
Although this way does not allow you to preserve the Optimize Document options
that you might have preset, expecially the number of colors for a given palette:
so you might get bitmaps more sized than needed. In the case, use Export >
Frames to Files, that's the right way as suggested by Macromedia.

Hope this helps,
