You give up too easily! Either use Flash elements (which you make by 
taking PNGs into separate Flash movies, and saving out SWFs that have 
JPEG compression), or import separate PNGs into Director (ones that 
were made with Save For Web from Photoshop), or use PegHole.com's 
ImageImport (<http://www.pimz.com/xtras/ImageImport.html>), or work 
some more on your Photocaster settings, choose 32 bit import, with 
separate alphas.

Nearly all of those methods will give you great looking jigsaw pieces 
in 8 bit or above.
