Hi all,

The anticipated inclusion of 3D into the Shockwave Player is now a
reality! Yesterday we shipped the Shockwave Player 8.5, which
includes sophisticated interactive 3D technology, integration of
Flash 5, RealVideo and RealAudio streaming and Multiuser
enhancements, including UDP messaging and Server-side Lingo
scripting. As always, the current release of Shockwave can be
downloaded from:

Our Shockwave Version History document, designed to keep the
developer community apprised of the most recent version and recent
changes, has been updated to reflect this most recent release:

Note about Shockwave and auto-update messaging:

Many of you who have Shockwave bits from earlier Shockwave 8.5
releases will go through *two* auto-update processes. Neither of
these two auto-update processes will be *full* updates, but both will
be necessary. This will affect developers who have previously
installed the "Developer Release" and users who installed the "Public
Beta" release.

If you have earlier versions of Shockwave Player 8.5 installed, the
first auto-update would occur when you initially encounter Shockwave
8.5 content following the initial availability of Shockwave 8.5r321,
released on 4/25/01. This auto-update process is considered a
"minor" update and will not force a restart of your browser.

The second auto-update will occur at a yet-to-be-determined date.
Despite being labeled "major" (because the browser needs to be shut
down), the download involved will be fairly small.

To avoid the initial (and double) auto-update, feel free to use our
Shockwave Uninstaller first, before installing the release version of
Shockwave Player 8.5 (if you have not already installed it).

Uninstallers can be downloaded from:

Thanks and hope this helps.
