Hello List,
I'm in the process of creating a CBT with Director that will have a simulated version
of a software package our company developed in Visual Fox Pro. I want my simulated
version to be as true to form as possible. A major part of the software is what's
called the "Mover Form" which consists (in my version anyway) of two fields, one on
the left and one on the right. In between are select, select all, de-select &
de-select all buttons. Above the fields and buttons is a drop-down menu that allows
the user to select various hierarchies such as "All Geography", "Zones", "Regions",
"Markets", and "Accounts". There are 1500 accounts, which roll-up into 118 markets.
Those 118 markets roll-up to 24 regions, and the 24 regions roll-up to 11 zones. All
Geography includes everything. The field on the left displays all the available
geographies at any level of the hierarchy chosen from the hierarchy level drop-down
menu. To make selections, you choose from the field on the left. Yo!
u can click on a geo to hilite it then click the select button to copy to the field on
the right. The field on the right displays all selected geographies. You can also
shift-click to select a range of geos, or control click to select multiple
non-contiguous geos. You can also double-click on a geo to select it or you can even
drag & drop to the right field. These scrolling fields need to appear as they do in
the real software package (ie: when you click on a geo (a line in the field member)
the entire line needs to be hilited, preferably in blue, and the text color changes
from black to white.) Once a geo is selected and appears on the right, it should
appear grayed-out on the left and no longer be able to select.
The hierarchy level drop-down menu allows you to drill down. So if you've selected
the East Zone, and it appears on the right, and you then use the drop-down menu and
select Region, the field on the right would then display the four regions within that
zone. If you would then select Market from the drop-down, the field on the right
would then display the ten markets within that region. And if you chose Account, the
field would display the 100+ accounts in those markets.
So, my question is, does this type of functionality even seem possible with Lingo?
Just getting the highlighting of the selected lines within the field to appear as they
do in the Fox Pro app is a challenge. If you think it should be possible, please
consider offering suggestions as to the basic logic or way to break this down into
manageable sections, as this is by far the most challenging project I've done to date.
(which is only a year and a half or Director work)

Thank you to anyone who even takes the time to read this lengthy post.
Bless you who responds.
