You can use the global commands (with the asterix in front of them) but
AFAIK the other commands are only useful for Macromedians, who know the
secret handshake.
And the things you want to do:

are not in the UI Helper Xtra. But as said before you can do those things
with a custom Xtra.

The OSControl Xtra
This sprite Xtra draws various UI-controls like push buttons, bevel
buttons, checkboxes, scrollbars and now also popup menus/dropdown lists in
the OS appearance on both Macintosh and Windows. Works in Shockwave too!
