I've got a question on the DirectConnection xtra - I've authored an e-Learning application that talks to a remote database. With a lan connection it works fine, but with a dialup it's very inconsistant - if the user is slow and allows the connection to drop, Director's built-in netlingo won't initiate the connection again, so we started looking to the Xtra. Of course, all the machine's I'm working on are lan-based; even this powerbook has no settings for a dialup connection. I'd like to just do a quick stub movie for a pc laptop with a dialup connection, but I keep getting script errors with the demo xtra, I'm guessing since I can't register it. Has anyone had any experience with the xtra? Are connections easily found/initiated on a plain vanilla machine?
