The closest thing I know of is "the soundenabled" which turns off all sounds
from the two score sound channels and all sounds initiated with the Play()
command.  There are certain sounds that it won't turn off, however, such as
sounds initiated from within Flash movies and QuickTime videos (QT depends
on whether the video is playing when you turn off the soundenabled or not)
and especially sounds initiated with the puppetsound command.  You'll have
to turn all those off manually, but it can be done with a simple "if the
soundenabled=false then..."
