Sorry about the lack of subject in the original post and thanks for a prompt
reply. here is some more info to your comments.
The reason I need to sort the property lis is because having created a list
of team names and scores ( the lowest of the two members from each team) I
need to extract the team names of the three highest scoring teams.
This also explains why each team name is listed twice (once for each team
member) but once I have selected the lowest score it is the team name I need
to extract not the team member.
