You may not need an xtra at all. Take a look at this:

They are setting up a field that isn't displayed, but just in the cast and
if both commandDown and keypressed = c then they grab the selectedtext and
put it into that field.
You could create a list of this info and write it to a file or send it to a
cgi script or whatever.
