Hmm. I ran across this a few weeks back. Seems Director is somehow unable to
register the screendepth change once it has started.
he symptoms were exactly the same as yours, BuddyAPI returned OK, the
display settings control panel returned the right color depth, but somehow
it seemed Director had not registered the change...
What I in the end did was a hack but it worked:
My situation:
Presentation, can run in 16-bit, but looks better in 32-bit
1# Projector 1 starts up
2# Projector 1 notices screen C-depth <= 16 bit
3# Projector 1 tests if 24/32 bit is possible (buddyapi), If possible,
switches, starts Projector 2 and quits. If not possible continues to play
presentation
4# Projector 2 starts, Re-opens Projector 1 and quits.
5# Projector 1 starts in 24/32 bit mode ===> No problems.
