Just to make life a little easier, here's another way to find out the 
type and creator:

Do a Find while in the Finder. If you're using Sherlock, click on the 
Edit button. Drag one of the files you're interested in into the 
window. All the attributes for the file will show up, including type 
and creator (in the lower right area).
