Does the text field have any behaviors attached to it. Give that a check.
A common problem which I have faced is that when i try to Control the input
of the field sometimes I update the field from the handler in the behavior
and if not properly handled i sometimes get Double characters.

Hope that solves you problem.

Vijay

Subject: <lingo-l> Why might I be getting double characters when typing
into aneditable field?

Hi List,
I've noticed this problem before with editable field members while testing
my Director projects. When I enter text into an editable field member, I
get doubles. What I mean is, if I press a letter or a number on the
keyboard to enter text into an editable field, that number or letter appears
twice in my editable field. I opened the Keyboard control panel and under
the Speed tab I set Repeat delay to Long, and Repeat rate to Slow. That
didn't correct the problem. I tried another keyboard, that didn't solve the
problem either. Has anybody ever had this problem before and what can I do
to correct it? I'm running Windows 95 on a Compaq Armada laptop in a
docking station.

Thanx,
g fritzinger
