If this in indeed the case (turning DTS off works) what you may do to avoid
the performance hit is to play it DTS, then when the user clicks to get the
capture turn DTS off, take the image property and store it somewhere and
then turn DTS on again. I guess that could work.

If you set the video so that it doesn't play Direct To Stage, you can get a
screen-shot of it, because non-DTS is handled by director instead of
bypassing
director. You may notice a performance hit using non-DTS, though.
Otherwise, you'll need an Xtra to do the capture, as far as I know.
