Magnus,

Be aware first that playing MPEG-2 video file on distributed media is very
tricky, cause MPEG 2 playing capability is non standard yet (it will change
soon in the Windows world with Windows XP) . I used myself the excellent
Direct Media Xtra to do so thru Director.

You must first install a soft MPEG 2 player (ex.: WinDVD), or simply decoder
(ex.: Ligos LSX) on the PC. I had trouble in the past with the access to the
soft decoder drivers via the Director/Directmedia/Media player link. You
could have to play with the system config. files to resolve that.

I faced also a couple of weird, mpeg 2 specific, playback behaviors: the
black screen appearing before the video begin, and a trouble to match .wav
and .mpg files sound levels on some configurations.

This apart, the media control was very stable and reliable with Direct
media.
