hi warren,
thank you for your fast reply!!
i will certainly look into this sample you sent me the link of. in the meantime may i
explain our 'case' to you:
we have to develop a cd-rom presenting around 40 pdf files to the viewer. these are
individual chapters of a book and can be called up and displayed by clicking on a
chapter-index.
i have written this index as a director-field and with the help of some lingo i
determine which paragraph has been clicked on and, following this, open the
corresponding pdf file.
this works fine, albeit a bit slow (this slowness is markedly more apparent on the mac
platform and seems to have to do with either the size of the documents (each between
90k and 500k in size) or the speed at which acrobat reader loads them in to the xtra?)
we have now been told that these pdfs have to be searchable, ideally one search engine
should search the whole lot of pdfs. this has to work on both platforms.
and this is what i am trying to work out now how to do. your pdf xtra seems to be able
to do this in cnjuction with the v12 xtra, but i did no seem to be able to try it out
as qithout purchasing it i cannot use the v12 xtra (or can i? the pdf xtra allows demo
use and pops up a box indicating it is not registered.)
many thanks for your help,
i am off to look at the sample yo suggest.
regards,
nik
ps: by the way we are registeres users of te pdf xtra as we purchased v1 sometime in
jan or feb 2001.
