Vicki,
This ain't the easiest Lingo starter project, I'm afraid. I'm not trying
to say you can't do it, you just may get frustrated trying to fly before
you've learnt to walk :)
Best advice is to buy Advanced Lingo for Games by Gary Rosenzweig.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/078972331X/qid=995284907/sr=2-1/ref=
aps_sr_b_1_1/002-7627410-6348832
It has a Crossword and a Word Sleuth, with full code and source files on
CD, as well as lots of other games.
His word sleuth allows you to define words and have them automatically
laid out, but even with a fixed set of words in a fixed pattern, you're
still looking at some advanced concepts to get it to work.
You're in Australia, so somewhere like Borders, or Swanston Technical
books (Melbourne) may have it. (If you know where Footscray is, you can
borrow my copy for a couple of days ;-)
