Never heard of this bug. I don't think it is one.

Does it happen in authoring or/and runtime?
Have you tried save and compact?
Try deleting Directors preferences in the system folder
Try another marker name
Recheck your syntay and try eg go to frame X (while X is the number of
the frame) instead of using a marker.
Try increasing the RAM for Director. It should be at least 40MB in
authoring and 9 MB (up to much more if you include a lot of graphics)
for a projector.

I am working on G4 Mac9.1 too and D8 ist absolutely stable.
