Huh.

So I guess the next logical question is how much memory the client's machine
has and how much memory your file is taking up...But the whole scenario is
pretty weird - if you have similar movies (sounds and animation timing
similar) of similar size (and by that I mean *everything* is a comparable
size - external sounds, internal bitmaps, etc etc), their memory usage
should be at least approximately the same.

Some more thoughts that come off the top of my head are 1) problems w/
external program dependencies like QT and 2) aren't *.aif files like *.wav
files (ie. super large uncompressed sound files) but for Mac? I thought so,
but haven't put much sound in my Director movies; however, I was under the
impression that it's better to compress them as much as possible, w/out them
sounding like poo. You might want to try to compress the sounds a bit to see
if that helps (even the highest quality mp3 behaves much better than wav
files in my experience, and users/non-audiophiles like me can't tell the
difference).

When you say " - by slowing it down -" what do you mean? Reduced frame
rates? If so, that should take care of some of the memory allocated to
moving stuff round the stage but not sounds, no? That question is just a
curiousity and has nothing to do w/ the above (yet:-) If you still think
it's a memory issue, you can always preload your stuff first like Kerry
mentioned...and conversely get rid of stuff used asap (unloadMember
commands).

Again, hope this helps,
Evan
