I found a work around for the scalling problem (simply enlarge the object to the desired end size, set the scale to the lower smaller size and then scale up to 100%). But, I have a new and related problem. I am trying to acheive the following: I created a gear vector object in Illustrator which I exported to Flash and am now using it in Director. How would I go about displaying only a portion of the gear while it is being scaled and rotated? For example, the final state of the gear should be that it is large, rotating but only 1/4 of it is showing in a box that is smaller than the stage. The center of the gear should be in the corner of the box. I know how to do the scaling and rotating, but displaying only part of the affected sprite eludes me. I am about to explore imaging lingo and see if there are any silver bullets there, but I would be greatly indebted to anyone who can show me a shortcut to the correct method.
