Hi Mike,

In short: forget it
The only possibility is running the flash stuff from the CD, so that you can
access the files using relative paths.

Have fun,

Chris.

Subject: <lingo-l> Using Flash to find CD Drive

Hi. I very rarely work with Flash. I know with Director that using the
Buddy API xtra, you can easily find which drive letter of the CD.

Two questions though:
1) Does this still work if the Dir Movie is shocked and running through a
browser?
2) Is there a way to accomplish this using Flash?

The goal here is to use Flash (over the Web) as the GUI for a project that
has a ton of QT/AVIs. The media files may be on an accompanying CD. The
Flash movie needs to be able to recognize where the CD is to link to the
correct media file--both on PC & Mac(preferrably without prompting the user
for specifying the drive letter...basically trying to make it "idiot
proof").

TIA
Mike
