You would be better off doing the entire project either in Flash or
Director. But combining the two things together will unnecessarily
complicate matters.
If you choose to use Flash for the animation and interactivity, then make
sure that your Actionscript is supported inside Director. There are some
functions which are not available through the Flash Asset Xtra.
And do have a look at the technotes on the MM site.

I'm having some problems putting my flash movie into director - it just
won't play at all. I think it could be the actionscript. Anyway, I want to
try another approach - the animation that I want to play is a boat sailing
across the sea. When it is clicked, the boat sinks. So, first of all, is
there a way to do that in flash so it works in director? And if I can't, is
it possible to tween the image of the boat in director, and once clicked,
director finds the x,y location of the boat and plays the flash movie of it
sinking in that exact position?? Hope that all makes sense!
