HI All,
I have a funny problem...I am creating an external
file using the setpref and getpref commands..SO on
startmovie I check for this file and if it doesnt
exist then i create it:
Temp=getPref("description.txt")
if Temp=VOID then
setPref "description.txt", " "
end if
Later in the movie i retrieve data that i have set
before in this file...Now this movie works fine in Dir
as well as when published and tried from the local
disc. Now when i put the .dcr file and .html file in
my www folder, which is Y: directory for me on the
network and open it by double clicking means from the
network, it also works fine.
Only when i access the same from its www adress does
it not work !! even if the file already exists in the
shockwave 8/prefs folder of the macromed folder, it
still is not able to access it. The examples movie
from Macromedia called "read and write text" works
perfectly fine however (but for its FileIO
features..which obviously don work in the browser !!).
It seems there is some problem with my movie
only...any suggestions as to what cud be going wrong
??? The rest of the movie (means excluding the
setprefs and getprefs part) works perfectly fine..
Please help as this problem is driving me mad...
